• Delivered weekly presentations to the Brands, Designs & Copyright (BDC) team which summarised recent Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) decisions and highlighted emerging trends and potential client impacts.

• Managed the online brand protection strategy for a major international client by reviewing potentially infringing online activity and advising on appropriate enforcement action.

• Acted for a leading global generic pharmaceutical manufacturer in joint invalidity proceedings against the originator and succeeded at both first instance and on appeal.

• Assisted a global generic pharmaceutical manufacturer in the coordination and strategic management of parallel invalidity proceedings across multiple European jurisdictions.

• Acted for a major international telecommunications and technology company in high-profile FRAND litigation against a leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer and contributed to two of the three technical trials preceding a confidential settlement of the whole matter.

Key responsibilities: conducted legal research and drafted formal litigation correspondence across multiple active matters, attended conferences with counsel and experts and produced detailed attendance notes to support trial preparation, assisted in drafting expert reports for use at trial, researched opposing expert witnesses and identified key documents to support effective cross-examination, prepared and organised court bundles in line with procedural requirements and trial timelines, coordinated requests from local counsel across more than ten European jurisdictions and assisted in reviewing their deliverables to ensure quality and consistency for the client.

Key matters:

• Advised an international wellbeing app on whether its new product classifies as a medical device under UK law considering recent guidance updates to the regulatory landscape.

• Provided legal guidance to a client on updates to the regulation of persistent organic pollutants with tailored advice on achieving and maintaining compliance.

• Drafted a compliant sponsorship agreement template for an international pharmaceutical company ensuring alignment with the UK pharmaceutical regulatory body’s Code of Conduct.

• Conducted a detailed gap analysis between the EU Medical Device Regulation and the EU AI Act for internal use which was subsequently more broadly deployed.

• Supported a major catering company in leasing part of their premises to another catering business by drafting leases from the heads of terms stage and providing guidance during commercial negotiations.

• Conducted due diligence on a prospective purchaser for a fuel-pump site disposal by producing a comprehensive report that assessed the proposal and highlighted potential risks for the client.

• Assisted a charity in acquiring a property by managing the early to mid-stages of the transaction by conducting searches and enquiries with the seller and local authorities and preparing a detailed report on title for the client.
